News: Verizon Wireless Officially Unveils Motorola DROID 4 – CES 2012

The long-awaited Motorola DROID 4 has finally gone official. Motorola Mobility and Verizon Wireless have just announced the upcoming availability of the smartphone at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Although the smartphone comes with a full slide-out QWERTY, the new DROID 4 is pretty slim at 12.7mm. The LTE-enabled smartphone weighs around 180g (battery included).

Obviously, the DROID 4 will be exclusively available at Verizon Wireless, but the carrier has yet to announce its price tag and exact release date.

According to Verizon, Motorola DROID 4 will be available in store and online “in the coming weeks” for a price that will be disclosed in due time.

Just like its QWERTY-free Motorola RAZR brother, the DROID 4 is powered by Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system. Verizon also confirms that the smartphone is upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Motorola DROID 4 is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit, as well as 16GB on board memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Aside from the generous five-row QWERTY keyboard with PC-like layout, DROID 4 offers users the a large 4.0-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors support.

Aimed at business customers, the device is pre-loaded with high-level encryption (FIPS 140-2) that allows user to keep their sensitive data secure, including email, calendar and contacts.

In addition, the phone features the MotoCast application for remote access to multimedia content, as well as Smart Actions app that allows users to automate daily tasks.

With LTE support, Motorola DROID 4 is capable of delivering speeds of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps.

On the back, the smarpthone packs an impressive 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities and Mirror Mode that allows users to display images and video on HDTVs. There’s also a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

New: Motorola SPICE XT Launched in Chile

December 22, the company has revealed that the Motorola FIRE XT will be available in Chile via all major carriers beginning this week.

However, the smartphone was launched as Motorola SPICE XT, but other than the name it does not come with anything new in comparison with the FIRE XT.

Motorola SPICE XT is aimed at customers who don’t want to spend their entire budgets for a month on an Android smartphone, but still wish to experience the features offered by Google’s mobile platform.

Although Motorola does not mention any prices for the smartphone, the SPICE XT is surely in the budget-friendly pricing range.

The device is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is likely to stay on this platform forever, though anything is possible when it comes to Motorola and Google.

On the inside, the phone embeds an 800 MHz processor, an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit, 512 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

There’s also a decent 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 16million colors.

Motorola SPICE XT sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary VGA front facing camera for video chats.

It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone comes pre-loaded with Moto Switch user interface, which allows users to quickly switch between personal and work modes.

Motorola DROID 4 Phone Emerges at DroidDoes

This is the site where Verizon teases its DROID devices, which means that DROID 4′s appearance there comes as confirmation of both existence and a near release announcement.

Nothing has been made official on the matter until now, but rumor has it that the new device could arrive on shelves before the end of this month.

The handset was reportedly spotted on the mobile DroidDoes site, and the screenshots attached to this article come from there, but the content is not yet live for all users to access it.

However, since Verizin has yet to make an official announcement on the smartphone, that does not come too much as a surprise.

One thing that these images confirm would be the list of specifications that DROID 4 would hit the market with.

The handset should prove highly appealing, featuring DROID RAZR’s looks, but with a sliding 5-row QWERTY keyboard included into the mix.

The smartphone arrives on shelves with a 4-inch qHD screen, complemented by a 1.2GHz dual-core application processor, and 1GB of RAM.

Moreover, the new mobile phone sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording capabilities, and a front camera for video calling.

The handset also packs 16GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, and a 1785mAh battery for increased usage time.

The upcoming Motorola DROID 4 runs under Google’s Android 2.3.5 operating system. The phone is rumored to debut at Big Red just before Christmas, on December 22nd.

News: Motorola DROID 4 Press Photo Emerges

The handset was recently said to be on its way to Verizon on December 8th, and can now be admired in what appears to be the first press photos for it, although an official confirmation on the launch date did not emerge for the time being.

The handset should sport the same sliding design as the original DROID from Motorola, while featuring a fast 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM for increased performance capabilities.

It would also sports access to Verizon’s 4G LTE network, along with a 4’’ screen, an 8MP camera with HD video recording, front camera for video calling, and a 1785mAh battery inside, a document that leaked at Droid-life unveils.

Motorola FIRE Arrives in Greece – Motorola Phone

The European version of Motorola FIRE has just been introduced in Greece and is expected to hit shelves sometime this month. The handset maker has yet to announce the smartphone’s price.

Motorola FIRE is a budget-friendly Android phone that offers both worlds by combining a traditional QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8-inch touchscreen.
Aimed at traditional texters, Motorola FIRE is a social media hub that offers users complete customization options via Android platform.
Introduced by Motorola Mobility Hellas, the handset features a slim, stylish design and a modern finish that makes it more appealing than other smartphone in the same price range.

Aside its QVGA 2.8-inch touchscreen that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution, Motorola FIRE comes with the usual ambient light sensor, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.
In addition, the smartphone is pre-loaded with the Moto Switch user interface, which allows users to switch between personal and work modes.
Although the FIRE is an entry-level handset, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and packs 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
On the inside, the phone is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz CPU and an old Adreno 200 graphics processing unit.
There’s also a 3-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, an FM radio with RDS support, Wi-Fi, E-compass, proximity sensor, and GPS with aGPS support.
According to Motorola, the FIRE comes with “best-in-class” battery life provided by a high-capacity 1420mAh battery, which is rated for up to 8 hours of talk time or 30 days of standby in 3G mode.
